One person died and two others suffered injuries that were not life-threatening after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Thompson Bridge Road at Virginia Circle in Gainesville.

All three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The victim was identified Saturday at Franklin Hornbeck, 78, of Murrayville, who died from his injuries around 7:30 p.m., Gainesville Police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.

Police determined he turned left in front of the other vehicle traveling southbound, leading to the crash around 1:45 p.m.

The northbound lanes of Thompson Bridge Road were closed for a time Friday afternoon.
