PoliceLights

An Alpharetta man was killed around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, after his motorcycle turned on its side on Ga. 11 in Lumpkin County, authorities said.

Matthew Cohen, 41, was driving his green Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Ga. 11 near mile marker 9, while Kevin Rose, 41, of Blairsville, was headed southbound in a white GMC van.

Georgia State Patrol Post Commander Curtis Bradshaw said Cohen was driving too fast for conditions and entered the other lane.

“(Cohen) lost control of his vehicle, and the vehicle traveled on its right side into the southbound lane of Ga. 11,” Bradshaw wrote.

The van struck the motorcycle, and Cohen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rose was not injured.
