Jury selection began Monday for a Gainesville man accused of kidnapping a jogger on Barrett Road and attempting to rape her.

Brandon Scott Nix, 28, is charged with kidnapping, aggravated sodomy, attempted rape, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and sexual battery.

According to the warrants, Nix allegedly grabbed the girl around the neck before putting her in his vehicle. He is then accused of bringing the girl to his Wood Creek Place home.

Other details were discussed at a November 2014 hearing.

Defense attorney William Hollingsworth appeared for Nix in court Monday in front of Superior Court Judge Andrew Fuller.

A jury panel of 54 prospective jurors came before Hollingsworth and Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Bagwell. The case is expected to resume this morning.
