A Gainesville man is accused of stealing four packs of cigarettes — nothing else — during a Saturday morning break-in at a West Hall convenience store.
Jason Truelove, 28, has been charged with burglary in the incident, said Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded after 6 a.m. Saturday to a report of a burglary at the Chevron Food Mart at the corner of McEver Road Extension and Pemmican Run.
Upon arrival, they found that a pane glass window at the store had been broken.
A witness gave deputies the description of a man who had ran into nearby woods. Deputies also were able to get a description of the suspect from the store’s video surveillance camera.
“It appeared that the only items stolen from the store were four packs of cigarettes,” Wilbanks said.
While searching the surrounding area, a deputy found a man matching the suspect’s description in the 2300 block of Pine Circle Drive.
Deputies arrested Truelove and took him to the Hall County Jail.
The sheriff’s office still is investigating the incident.
