Main Street will be closing Wednesday, Sept. 19, to install the crane that will be used for Gainesville’s parking deck expansion project.

The closure runs between Jesse Jewell Parkway and the city’s parking deck and was originally scheduled for Sept. 17, but the delivery of the crane has been postponed because of Hurricane Florence.

The Main Street parking deck will close Monday, Sept. 24 for about 60 days while 180 new spaces are added, bringing the total amount of spots to almost 600.

While the parking deck is closed, the city of Gainesville will be providing a shuttle so people can park in outlying lots and get a ride downtown.
