A 33-year-old pedestrian died after being struck Wednesday night by a vehicle on Athens Highway/Ga. 11 about a half-mile from Athens Street in Gainesville.

Charles White of Lula was in the northbound right lane of the roadway when the accident happened at 9:14 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

He was struck by a 2008 Honda Pilot driven by Clayton Shaw, 66, of Ellijay. Shaw was driving north in the right lane at the time.

“No charges will be issued to the driver of the vehicle as no laws or violations were committed,” a state patrol news release states.
