Lula looking to set 2017 election, qualifying

Lula is considering setting the Nov. 7 election for mayor and two council posts.

The issue came up at Monday night’s council meeting and will be voted on in January.

Officials are looking to set the candidate qualifying period as Aug. 21-23 at City Hall, 6055 Main St.

The fee to run for mayor is $216 and for council member, $90.

Currently, Milton Turner is the mayor. The council members whose posts are up for election are Mordecai Wilson and Marvin Moore.

Moore and Wilson said they plan to seek re-election.
