Lula has another sewage spill

Lula officials reported a spill of less than 2,000 gallons of raw sewage Monday at the city's Hood Street pump station.

City manager Dennis Bergin said heavy rainfall caused the amount of inflow to exceed the capacity of the pump station, causing an overflow.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division was notified of the spill.

Lula has had several previous spills at this same pump station. Bergin said the city is in the process of trying to get approval to have the facility replaced.
