A Lula councilwoman was transported Saturday for injuries following a collision Saturday on Joe Chandler Road.

Vicky J. Chambers, 57, of Lula was driving a Toyota Sienna west on Joe Chandler Road around 7 p.m. Saturday, as a Honda Accord driven by Joshua W. Armour, 23, of Gainesville, traveled eastbound.

“The Accord crossed over the centerline and struck the Sienna head-on,” wrote Department of Public Safety information officer Franka Young in an email.

Both Chambers and Armour were injured and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center following the crash.

Chambers was listed in fair condition inside the intensive care unit, according to hospital officials.

Information from hospital officials for Armour was not available.

Chambers had one passenger, Lisa Page, in her Sienna who was also injured and transported, Young wrote. Page has been treated and released, according to hospital officials.

Armour was charged with failure to use safety belts in passenger vehicles, failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence, Young wrote. Blood results were still pending.
