Lula approves paving project
Lula
The Lula City Council will vote Monday on a budget for the next fiscal year. The city plans to continue not collecting property taxes.

Portions of three streets in Lula will soon be repaved, after the Lula City Council approved a contractor for the project Monday.

During a special called meeting Monday before the work session, the Council awarded the $152,595 contract to Square Deal Enterprises out of Sautee Nacoochee. Portions of Spring, Toombs and Athens streets will be repaved.

The project includes repaving of 6,870 linear feet of the roads, according to City Attorney Joseph Homans.

City Manager Dennis Bergin said there is a large road indentation on Spring Street, where the road dips about three inches.

$165,000 was originally budgeted for the project, Bergin said. The final price tag may have to be slightly adjusted as paving moves forward and officials learn more about what is causing the dip on Spring Street, he said.
