Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle has announced the first in a series of listening sessions that will be held throughout the state by his field representatives. The first session will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Georgia Mountains Center.

After taking office last year, Cagle appointed field representatives for two halves of Georgia.

His North Georgia representative is former Hall County Commissioner Dennis Pitts, who will conduct the Friday event.

"It is very important to me that our office remain available and accessible to Georgians who have questions and concerns regarding state issues," Cagle said. "As we look for ways to aid and connect citizens with appropriate agencies and solutions, we don’t want people to have to drive to Atlanta for a personal meeting. It is our goal to be convenient and come to them."

The listening sessions will allow citizens to have a personal meeting with a member of Cagle’s staff on a first-come-first-served basis. Additional sessions will be scheduled throughout the state.

Cagle is the first lieutenant governor to have designated regional representatives. Traditionally, Georgia’s congressional delegation has utilized staff representatives to meet with constituents at public venues across the state.

In addition to meeting with constituents, the field representatives attend meetings when the lieutenant governor’s schedule does not permit him to be there.
