The main parking lot to one of Gainesville’s most popular parks will close for four days next month.
The Gainesville Parks and Recreation Department announced Monday that the main parking lot of Longwood Park will be closed from Aug. 11 to Aug. 15 for repaving.
The four days of repaving is part of a monthslong project to restore areas of the lakeside park, including the dredging of silt from Longwood Cove.
The small parking lot next to the tennis courts at the park remains closed, and the department encourages park-goers to park in the lot next to the Rock or in permitted areas on West Bypass, Parks and Recreation communications coordinator Julie Butler said in a news release.
The Longwood Cove restoration project, which began in February, is expected to be complete by fall. For more information on the project, please contact Gainesville Parks and Recreation at 770-531-2680.
