Where can I volunteer to serve the homeless on Thanksgiving?

Good News at Noon shelter is still looking for volunteers and donations for the holiday. Any volunteers need to be at the shelter’s church at 10:30 Thanksgiving morning to help serve the meal. The shelter is located at 979 Davis St., Gainesville.

The ministry is also requesting food items that are easy to open, like Spam and saltines, to hand out to the homeless.

Project Joy offers a meal on Thanksgiving and volunteers will be at the Gainesville lodge at 621 Lakeshore Drive. They are still looking for side dishes and turkey donations.

For times and other information, visit http://project-joy.net or call or text message Rose Moon at 678-480-0551 or Eugene Moon at 678-478-8386.

They specifically need turkey, sweet potatoes, canned green beans, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, desserts, tea, to-go boxes, cups and monetary donations.
