Collectively, more than $1 million in funding is being distributed to theaters, dance companies, museums, cities, colleges and other entities, according to group.

The Gainesville Theatre Alliance received a Partner grant, which funds operating support. Grant amounts were not disclosed by the state.

The 2017-18 Gainesville Theatre Alliance season kicks off with the staging of “The Jungle Book” Sept. 29-Oct. 7 at Brenau’s Pearce Auditorium.

Funds awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

“While we are unable to fund each deserving applicant, we are proud to support 100 organizations through this grant cycle,” said Karen Patey, executive director of GCA. “Their work in the arts (strengthens) local communities and the overall vitality of the state.”
