Local nonprofits need more volunteers

The elderly need company, the hungry need food, the poor need affordable homes, but people in Hall County don’t have much time to help. Across the nation, people aren’t as generous with their time as they used to be. Last year, the volunteer rate across the U.S. was the lowest it’s been in more than a decade with only 25.4 percent of the population giving of their time, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
