Black Friday, the national shopping extravaganza on the day after Thanksgiving, is coming early to the city of Gainesville. Many merchants in the area will open on Thanksgiving, a controversial move that many nevertheless hope will boost their overall Black Friday sales. Belk at Lakeshore Mall opened at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving last year.
