Lanier Tech program seeks accreditation

Lanier Technical College’s physical therapist assistant associate of applied science degree program has been approved as a candidate for accreditation.

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education voted April 30 to approve the candidacy, based on Lanier Tech’s demonstrating satisfactory progress toward achieving compliance with the commission’s evaluative criteria.

The program is now eligible to accept students this fall. These students will make up the first graduating class in spring 2016. The program will be offered at the college’s Forsyth campus.

The director of the new program, Dr. Patty Stancil, says “CAPTE accreditation is absolutely essential for success in the field. This vote is great news that validates a lot of hard work that went into getting the program to this point. The program will continue to comply with all CAPTE standards in anticipation of full accreditation by the time our first class of students graduate.”
