With the new bridge beams for the Atlanta Highway Bridge over Interstate 985 in place, Georgia Department of transportation crews will again be closing lanes this week.

"Crews will work daily today through Thursday, if weather permits, closing one lane of the interstate northbound under the new bridge from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.," said DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry. "Wednesday and Thursday the right lane of Mundy Mill Road eastbound will be closed from Burger King to Old Oakwood Road for asphalt work."

The work on Mundy Mill will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., McMurry said.

The speed limit on I-985 within the construction project limits — north of the Elachee Bridge to about 1 mile south of Exit 16 — has been lowered.

The overall projected completion date is February 10, 2010 and its construction cost is more than $74.6 million.
