The Gainesville Kiwanis Club has bought sausage by the case in preparation for its annual pancake breakfast.

The club will hold its 47th annual pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday at the Gainesville Civic Center. All proceeds from the event go to various charities and programs helping children in Gainesville and Hall County.

Tickets are $5 for the meal, which includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Tickets are available at the door.

Any active duty member of the military, law enforcement or fire departments can eat for free. Handicapped access will be offered.

Ron Combs, a Kiwanis member organizing the event, said some 110 Kiwanis members will be helping out Saturday morning doing everything from mixing batter to cooking pancakes.

Combs said this year’s goal was to raise $26,000, a little more than last year’s result of just more than $25,000.

"It’s a lot of work to get to put on, but it’s for the kids of Hall County," Combs said.
