Jefferson Mayor Jim Joiner has officially announced his plans to seek re-election this fall.

He made his intentions known during a specially planned community barbecue Thursday in Jefferson. In attendance were about 120 Jackson County residents, including representatives from the Jefferson City Council, Jefferson City Schools Board of Education, Jackson County commission and the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.

Joiner is currently in his second term as mayor. Prior to being elected to that post, Joiner served as a city councilman for two years.

The general election will be held in November.
