A Gainesville man allegedly entered an East Ridge Road home with his face concealed and later left with a woman’s car and electronics, according to authorities.
Qwamane Shalone Hayes, 25, appeared in Magistrate Court Friday. He had been previously charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by taking.
He was extradited from Florida last month.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigator Mark Mason said Hayes and another man had previously stayed at the residence.
On Feb. 26, Hayes and the other man entered the home with their faces covered. Soon after, two of the residents — one man and one woman — pulled up in the driveway.
“They pulled him out of the car,” Mason said. “They proceeded to pistol whip him.”
Lt. Scott Ware said Hayes held the victims at gunpoint and took a wallet, cellphone, debit card and laptop computer.
“When they were in reverse trying to leave the residence in a hurry, they went off the driveway into a ditch,” Mason said.
The two men then reportedly got out of the car and then demanded the keys to the Volkswagen Passat of one of the victims, Mason said.
The beaten man was given multiple staples in the forehead for a laceration, having also suffered a broken arm and potentially fractured ribs.
Ware said the car was found in Jacksonville, Florida, shortly after the robbery.
Investigators took out warrants on Hayes March 2.
Hayes also had a probation warrant from Superior Court and State Court.
Defense attorney Chris Van Rossem declined to comment regarding the case.
The judge moved the case on to Superior Court.
