The intersection of Ga. 53 and Ga. 211 in South Hall County got a signal update Monday afternoon.
A left turn arrow that allowed turns only on that arrow will now change to a green light, allowing drivers on Ga. 53 west to turn left onto Ga. 211 after yielding to traffic. The original configuration only allowed that turn when the green arrow was lit.
“The actual use of the intersection did not match the projected data in the traffic signal study,” Georgia DOT District Traffic Engineer Brent Cook said. “After much review of this intersection, we believe these changes will allow the intersection to operate more efficiently.”
DOT officials urged caution as drivers become acclimated to the changes.
