Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is attracting another high-profile endorsement and visit this month, this time from incoming NRA President Oliver North.

North, a retired lieutenant colonel who was involved in the Iran-Contra affair under former President Ronald Reagan, is stepping down from his commentator position with Fox News to manage the gun rights organization.

But before he gets into his new role at the NRA, North is coming to Gainesville Saturday, July 14.

He’ll stump for Cagle beginning with a trip to the oldest gun club in the United States: Forest City Gun Club in Savannah. The two are set to appear at a fish fry in Gainesville at the Smithgall Arts Center at 5 p.m. Saturday.
