Natalie Antoinette Enzmann, 13, was presented the Silver Award in May for her work as a Girl Scout to gather cards for the crew of the USS Virginia submarine.

The Silver Award requires that a Girl Scout spearhead a community project.

Enzmann’s Cards from Home drive collected hundreds of cards from organizations, schools, nursing homes and individuals to show appreciation for the submarine sailors.

Enzmann’s brother-in-law, Lt. Erik Faile, serves on the submarine.

“I am honored to have such a great bunch of guys watching over us and I want to let them all know how much we care,” Enzmann said. “I have learned that no matter how small you or your organization may be, you can make a difference in the world around you.”
