Hannah Sartain, 15, takes her oath of allegiance during her citizenship ceremony Tuesday. Sartain was adopted from Russia in 2002.
At 15, Hannah Sartain wanted to attain the first step of freedom in a learner’s permit like other high schoolers. But her first step was becoming a citizen, which she completed Tuesday. “I think it was neat that we waited long enough to where she would really understand the significance of becoming a citizen and the responsibilities,” said her mother Judy Sartain, an adoption attorney in Hall County.
