A few Hall County officials are taking on additional roles for the foreseeable future.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell will take on the responsibilities of overseeing the county's E-911 center, according to a news release from Hall County Public Information Officer Nikki Young.
Kimbrell is already the head of the fire department, oversees emergency medical services and emergency management.
Gail Lane, formerly an E-911 supervisor, is now the acting director of E-911, according to the news release.
Lane joined Hall County's E-911 in 1994 as a communications officer trainee and has since worked her way up to various administrative roles in the department.
Lane's promotion and the broadening of Kimbrell's duties are due to the promotion of Marty Nix to assistant county administrator. Nix was formerly the county's public safety director, a department that, until Nix's promotion, included E-911.
Nix became assistant county administrator shortly after the Hall County Board of Commissioners promoted Randy Knighton to the county's top job from his position as planning director in July.
The county announced Friday that its GIS manager Mark Lane will lead the planning department on an interim basis.
Lane has been a county employee for 30 years.
Knighton said the new titles for existing employees are part of a continued effort to streamline government operations in a tough budget year.
"Our directors have taken on new roles and changed their job descriptions to help Hall County become a more efficient organization without adding any new salaries to the payroll," Knighton said.
Friday's changes also came with news that Mike Little, manager of the Allen Creek Soccer Complex, has been named the director of Hall County Parks and Leisure Services.
Little has served in the position in an interim capacity for the last two months.
