A Hall County Elections Board member accused of shoplifting two pair of men’s boxer briefs from Wal-Mart submitted his resignation Monday, county officials said.
Tommy Sandoval, who has also been an officer in the Hall County GOP, has been charged with shoplifting two pairs of men’s boxer briefs from the 400 Shallowford Road store in Gainesville.
Debra Pilgrim, chairwoman of the Hall County GOP, said Sandoval’s term as a district vice chair is set to end March 18, and he won’t continue with the group beyond that date.
The alleged theft took place Jan. 29, according to a Gainesville Police incident report. The boxers were valued at $30. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail and later released on a cash bond.
“I’ve been wrongfully charged,” Sandoval previously told The Times.
“Upon hearing of these charges, I personally went down to the sheriff’s (office) to answer those charges,” he said. “After voluntarily being down there, I was quickly released, and I look forward to clearing my name.”
