Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch and Hall County Commission Chairman Richard Mecum received the sheriff office’s state certification Thursday night, placing it with 107 other law enforcement agencies.
Certification required compliance with more than 130 standards about best practices and other professional requirements.
According to a news release, state certification leads to roughly $20,000 in insurance premium reductions.
“We continue to exceed all of the standards set by the State Certification Program and will continue to improve by setting the highest standards for ourselves through our hard work and commitment to serve the citizens of Hall County,” Couch said in a statement. “We set the benchmark through our service to the community and by keeping our citizens safe.”
