The Hall County Board of Education is holding its annual retreat tonight and Saturday morning to discuss a range of issues facing the school system in the upcoming year.

Hall County schools Superintendent Will Schofield will meet with the board to update the system’s plans for programs of academic "rigor" to challenge every student; major renovation and capital projects; classroom technology possibilities; and the district’s certified staff recruitment plan.

The board is scheduled to meet from 5:30 to 9 tonight at the Hall County school system central office located at 711 Green St.

The board will convene Saturday morning in the same location at 8:30 a.m. to discuss staff recruitment and the fiscal year 2010 budget, which begins July 1, until the meeting adjourns at 12 p.m.

Most of Saturday’s discussion will revolve around the fiscal year 2010 budget, which Schofield anticipates could be dealt further cuts from the state.
