The Hall County Board of Commissioners will be changing its schedule next week, holding a work session on Monday, April 22 and its voting meeting on Tuesday, April 23 instead of the usual Thursday meeting.
At Monday’s work session, commissioners will hear about agenda items and agree to put those items on their voting meeting agenda for Tuesday. Votes up for consideration include condemnation for five properties needed to extend the county’s sewer system along the Friendship Road corridor, as well as five water main relocations connected to the widening of Spout Springs Road in South Hall.
The county is working toward extending sewer lines along Friendship Road/Ga. 347 to prepare for expected growth in the fast-growing South Hall area. But first, the county needs to acquire the necessary land, which has required periodic votes to authorize condemnation.
Commissioners will consider condemnation of five properties on Tuesday that are needed to build the sewer lines. Public Works Director Ken Rearden said construction on the sewer lines should start in early 2020 and take 18 to 24 months.
Another utility will have to be adjusted to make room for South Hall growth. Commissioners will also vote on five requests for water line easements from the Gainesville Department of Water Resources. The water lines will have to be relocated due to the widening of Spout Springs Road, which runs from Flowery Branch into Braselton.
