The Hall County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $379,916 contract for construction of a roundabout at Ledan and Sardis roads in northwest Hall County.
The board gave its OK to the contract — nearly $185,000 under the estimated amount — on Tuesday to E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. of Snellville.
Work could start in May and wrap up in August, said Ken Rearden, Hall’s public works and utilities director.
The intersection would be closed during construction, with detour plans announced closer to construction starting, officials have said.
The roundabout has been in consideration since summer 2015, as Hall officials began to search for ways to ease congestion. Hall County is planning to later start a much bigger project — the Sardis Road Connector linking Thompson Bridge Road/Ga. 60 and Dawsonville Highway/Ga. 53.
