Authorities transported a man in serious condition to the hospital after a wreck on Dawsonville Highway at Ga. 306.

The condition of Jerry Payne, 71, of Gainesville has stabilized, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jonathan Folendore.

The call to GSP came around 1:30 p.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and a PT Cruiser driven by Payne.

“The PT Cruiser for unknown reasons crossed the centerline and struck the rear of the tractor (trailer),” said GSP Sgt. George Harper.

Payne was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition, Harper said.

No injuries were known for the tractor-trailer driver, Shawn Ostlund of Winter Haven, Fla.
