The deputy injured in a four-car crash last week caused the wreck, according to a Georgia State Patrol report completed on the accident.

Hall County sheriff's deputy Nichlos Parrish, 29, was traveling to the scene of another serious accident on Candler Road/Ga. 60 when his vehicle struck another car from behind near the Construction Drive intersection, the report said. The impact resulted in a chain reaction that entangled another two drivers who also were taken to the hospital. Their cars were towed from the scene.

Parrish was treated and released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center hours after the wreck around 6:15 p.m. March 15.

He returned to his regular duties last week. None of the other injuries were life-threatening, according to the report.

The Sheriff's Office also expects to address the accident during its monthly accident review board meeting, said Col. Jeff Strickland, Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The board will make its own determination on how, if at all, to reprimand Parrish, he added.

The deputy failed to stay in the proper lane and was over-correcting/over-steering, according to the GSP report.

Parrish's patrol car was negotiating a sharp right turn and skidded nearly 60 feet before striking the first car, GSP said.

Speed was not a contributing factor, the report said.

The other drivers - Julia Campa, 27, Linda W. Stafford, 64, and Olga Garcia, 29 - were stopped in traffic caused by an accident less than one-tenth of a mile south of them near the intersection of Candler and Lee Land roads.
