Grady Young Foundation to focus on student success this weekend

The Grady Young Foundation plans to hold its Fifth Annual Memorial Weekend from Friday to Sunday with the theme "Recognizing Rising STARS (Students Triumphantly Achieving Respect and Success) In Our Communities."

The organization is named after Grady Young, a lifelong Hall County resident who served as layman president emeritus of the Northwestern Baptist Association of Georgia and served for 26 years as treasurer of the Congress of Christian Education.

The weekend features a golf tournament Friday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The Annual Gospel Extravaganza, set for 7 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church at 1010 Mill St., features the Savannah State University Wesleyan Gospel Choir and several area church choirs and groups.

Also scheduled are the Annual Father-Son Fellowship Breakfast and Test-Taking Strategies Workshop, set for 8 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist, and the Youth Recognition Banquet, set for 6 p.m. Saturday at New Holland Core Knowledge Academy at 170 Barn St.

The weekend also includes worship at 11 a.m. Sunday at Cross Plains Missionary Baptist Church at 3230 Cross Plains Road.

The public is invited to all events.
