Living 90 years is reason enough to celebrate.But when you consider the number of lives Gene Beckstein has touched through his Good News at Noon ministry, the reasons outnumber the years.Beckstein founded the ministry in 1990. Today it feeds more than 150 people every day and provides shelter for the homeless and groceries for disadvantaged families.Good News at Noon will host a celebration for Beckstein from 6:30-9 p.m. July 23 at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville on Green Street.“You have to meet this Mr. Beckstein,” Thomas Ramirez, general manager of Good News at Noon, said. “If you get a chance to go to his birthday (party), please do.
