Competitive bicyclists descended on Lula Saturday for The Georgia State Championship Road Race. More than 260 racers signed up when registration began at 6 a.m., with another 100 or more people expected to register throughout the day according to Betty Hodges, a company partner with Dingo Race Productions, which helped put on the race. The 12-mile loop included a stretch on Belton Bridge Road before turning onto Pea Ridge Road, with turns on Crane Mill Road, Mud Creek Road and Bill Wilson Road.
