Today is a historic moment for the Boy Scouts of America, marking the first day openly gay youth can be accepted to the ranks. The decision was handed down in May, when more than 60 percent of the 1,400-member national council approved it. Under the new policy, children can no longer be barred from the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or the coed Venturers programs because of their sexual orientation.
