Travel will be limited on Cleveland Highway crossing Lake Lanier this week.

Atmos Energy is scheduled to perform maintenance work on natural gas lines attached to the Longstreet Bridge, which is part of U.S. 129.

The work, which will narrow the road to one lane, is set to take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, starting Tuesday.

It is scheduled to be completed Sept. 21, said Ricky Watford, Atmos Energy operation supervisor.

“This is standard maintenance of natural gas lines. We’re checking everything, coding them, making sure the hangers are intact and in good shape — something we like to do occasionally,” Atmos spokesman Joel Ames has said.
