Gainesville Police arrested two male suspects late Monday night after a report of an armed robbery in the 500 block of Northside Drive.

Kevin Holbrook, public information officer with the police department, said Johnwon Borders, 17, and Isa Williams, 20, both of Gainesville, were found near the scene of the crime carrying a stolen wallet and a handgun.

Officers responded to the call about 11:30 p.m. A male victim said he was just outside his apartment when a man approached him, pointing a gun and demanding his wallet and cash, Holbrook said. The victim complied and the suspect and an accomplice left the scene.

Holbrook said officers were able to get to the area quickly, and they set up a perimeter and used a K-9 unit to find Borders and Williams nearby.

Holbrook credited the arrests to the quick response time and teamwork of the officers.
