Gainesville City Council is looking to appoint a resident to fill Mayor Danny Dunagan’s Ward 1 council term until the November elections. Dunagan, who was mayor and the District 1 representative, resigned at the end of the council meeting Tuesday evening to run for election as mayor. The candidate qualifying period is next week, but so far, Dunagan has two challengers.
