Taking the stand, Imam Bilal Ali said he would “pray for leniency” for the man convicted of threatening him and later abducting a child. Marquis Bonds, 25, of Gainesville, was sentenced to 25 years in prison with life on probation for kidnapping, aggravated assault and other charges. According to testimony, Bonds attempted to pull a gun out of a bag while threatening Ali Aug. 22.
