Gainesville City Schools Superintendent Merrianne Dyer served as a panelist for the Charter System Foundation’s meeting Wednesday at the Gainesville Civic Center.

It was only the second meeting of the group, which was developed by former state Senate Education Committee Chairman Dan Weber. Weber also moderated the event. Other school districts represented were Dublin City, Marietta City and Fulton County, among others.

“The Charter System Foundation is a means for the existing charter systems to offer support, ideas and strategies to one another,” Dyer said. She added it’s also a way for those that are not charter systems to learn more about the application process.

Topics discussed ranged from partnerships between the schools and their communities to developing strong governance councils.
