A father and son from Gainesville have been sentenced to prison after being convicted of racketeering for taking millions of dollars from a Cobb County widow, according to the district attorney for the Cobb Judicial Circuit. Jeffrey Thomas Carr, 41, was sentenced to 40 years, with 10 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation. He was ordered to pay restitution of $3.4 million to the victim, Frances Perkins, who is now 93.
