Gainesville city schools to renovate districts central office

The Gainesville Board of Education wants to improve the district’s central office.

The board approved $39,845.55 in SPLOST IV funds for renovations to the front of the office, including taking down gates that separate the small waiting area from the rest of the facility.

“We are in need of some renovation at the front office space,” Superintendent Wanda Creel said. “Lighting, some wiring and access are some things. We’ve been working specifically on customer service, and we want to work on that customer service feeling at the front.”

Since Legacy Link moved out of the building earlier this year, the school district has space in the facility that can be better used for its needs, Creel said.

The board is looking to make additional changes to the facility down the road, including creating more meeting spaces, but for the time being will focus on the front.
