Gainesville City Council members said they have big shoes to fill after City Manager Kip Padgett announced his resignation Tuesday night. Padgett said he has accepted a job as the town manager in Wake Forest, N.C., adding that the opportunity is both a good career move and will bring his family closer to his wife’s relatives. His resignation is effective July 2.
