Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation on Wednesday plans to open all four lanes of Dawsonville Highway.

The two eastbound lanes from Manor Ridge Drive to the Jerry Jackson Bridge and the two westbound lanes from Sidney Drive to Manor Ridge Drive will open for use.

"The westbound lanes of Dawsonville Highway from the Jerry Jackson Bridge to Sidney Drive will not open yet. Work in that area is continuing," said DOT spokeswoman Teri Pope. "The traffic signal at Dawsonville Highway and Lyncliff-Lake Ranch will go into flash today and will be operational Wednesday afternoon if testing goes well."

Crews will be working all day Wednesday to open up the new lanes, so there will likely be delays during the day, Pope said. But the lanes should be open by the Wednesday evening rush hour, she said.

The construction cost of this 3.23 mile long project is $29.5 million.
