A burglar broke into the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center overnight, causing about $3,500 in damages, police said. An unknown amount of cash and checks were stolen.
A news release from the Gainesville Police Department said the burglary occurred between midnight and 5:40 a.m.
An employee reported that someone had broken into the building through a rear window and then entered an office inside the complex. The employee also discovered a safe had been broken into. It was not immediately known how much money was taken.
Investigators are reviewing the location's surveillance system to see if the burglar can be seen.
