For the third time in six years, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has captured top spot in the nation for its efforts in promoting traffic safety.

The award was presented to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton and Lt. Jody Chapman at the recent 2009 International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Denver, Colo. Chapman is assistant commander of the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division.

The agency earned first place in its size category of the IACP Law Enforcement Challenge Program. The sheriff’s office previously placed first in 2004 and 2006.
