A former general manager of Irish Bred Pub in Gainesville was arrested Sunday after police say he stole two cases of beer from the business and damaged a camera.
Tyson Miller, 31, of Gainesville was charged with theft by taking and criminal trespass.
Miller was fired about six weeks ago, said the pub's current general manager, Timothy W. Garrett.
Although Garrett wasn't working when the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., he said once he arrived "it looked like a TV scene."
Miller had been at the restaurant drinking for several hours, Garrett said, but at some point he went to the kitchen area and destroyed a video surveillance camera.
When confronted by an employee, Miller admitted he was stealing beer, Garrett said.
"He went through the kitchen, grabbed beer and went through the back door," Garrett said.
"Witnesses observed him placing these cases of beer in his trunk," said Joe Britte, public information officer for the Gainesville Police.
Once police arrived, Miller had already left, but he was found at his house shortly after and arrested.
Garrett said two other employees were involved in the incident "to some degree" but they were not charged.
Those two employees were fired on grounds of performance, he said.
Garrett said in the days since the incident police have had extra patrols in the area.
