Construction on the first hotel in Flowery Branch is well under way.

A Hampton Inn & Suites hotel is being built on Holland Dam Road behind the BP gas station in Flowery Branch and will house 84 bedrooms on a two-acre site with 96 parking spaces.

"We’re about two months into construction," said hotel owner Yogesh Patel. "We’ve put in all our underground utilities, storm water and we’re putting in the footings for the building now."

Patel said the closest hotel to his Hampton Inn & Suites on Holland Dam Road is the Comfort Inn & Suites on Friendship Road. He said he expects construction on the hotel to be completed by September and to open soon after. Patel’s father, Ray Thakkar, owns the Hilton Garden Inn on Browns Bridge Road, which Thakkar said is scheduled to open in May. Thakkar also owns the Country Inn & Suites on Ga. 53 in Oakwood.

Flowery Branch Planning Director James Riker said there are no road changes planned as a result of the new Flowery Branch Hampton Inn & Suites location.

"We’re excited about (the Flowery Branch hotel) because we think it’s a growing area ... and we think we can pull a lot of business in that area," Patel said.
